What makes a good leader?

who mkes a leader, i'm a leader, how to lead

“A good leader not only knows where he is going but he’s going but he can inspire others to go with him.”
Gone are those days when people think leaders are born. Time has passed an different case studies have presented to us that leaders are not born but made.
It’s like true leaders invent themselves. They are not made in a single weekend seminar, as many of the leadership theory spokesman claim.
“I believe more leaders have been made by accident, circumstances, sheer grit or determination than have been made by all the leadership courses put together”- Myles Munroe
I quite with the above words. Leadership courses can only teach skills; they can’t teach character or vision. Leaders are not gifts but results.
Plato’s divided man into three groups;
  1. The philosophers/kings (Born Leaders)
  2. The guardians (middle class)
  3. The peasants
There are individuals who based on Plato's theory would never have been accepted as leadership material and yet became some of the greatest leaders in history.

The leader of quality

The quality of a leader can be reflected in various forms. I’ll be highlighting five qualities of leadership.

#1. Self Discipline:The bed rock

Every leader (which you are) needs to live a life of discipline. Discipline is the ability to  the control, objectively and positively the way we live. If you are undisciplined, you are unstable which makes you more vulnerable to “danger”.

If you’re unstable, you can’t be resolute, No matter how hard you want to do that thing you feel you want, you won’t just do it.

Discipline requires obedience and imposing strict guidelines on yourself. Only when you are self disciplined.before you can discipline others.
Everything starts from the mind. Be resolute. Set strict rules. Analyse yourself daily. These will take time. It’s worth it.

    #2. Vision: Like an eagle

Without vision, the people perish. You must possess a guiding vision. Some people have foresight but have no insight and they fall short of quality leadership

If you look back into history, there is a trait can be seen in great leaders; They were “seers” that is they could see beyond what everyone else was looking at.
Some people follow the flow, but people with vision create their own even though it seems they are the odd ball.
The best seers are those who bring their vision to reality. You don’t just sit there, you make plans. Take a step further to see how you can actualise that vision.

If your vision is not backed up with action, It’ll remain a dream that you won’t wake up from.
If you start moving in line with your vision, you’ll go a long way.

Vision is futuristic. It’s a glimpse of the end, a view of your purpose in life. Vision is the finished product you are  about to produce. If only you could sit down with a paper and set goals for your life, you will find that you’ll accomplish more.
“Only those who are conscious of their purpose and possess a guiding vision will truly see”

      #3. Humility: God honors it

“Humility is the ability to control power.”
Humility is not degrading or reducing of oneself in the estimation of another, but rather the awareness, acceptance and appreciation of one’s true worth and value.
Humility is not stupidity. If You are being abused physically, and you say, “I’ve got stay humble”. That’s not humility, That’s dumb.

Humility is the ability to control knowledge and power, even though you know it’s yours to exercise. Speak your knowledge at the right time,in the right words and to the right person.
If you say “I'm humble” you’re not. When someone tells you that they’re humble, it’s proof that they are proud. You don’t tell people, People will tell you.

“God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble”

#4. Sense of humor: Heavenly like

“The one enthroned in heaven laughs” – Psalms 2: 4
A strong sense of humour is important. The ability to laugh in life and not take life too seriously is a gift from our creator.
You know there will be hard times and for some moments, the best thing you could do is to laugh it off.

A true leader must have a cheerful, pleasant, upbeat, happy, optimistic, positive and open spirit.
If you have a healthy sense of humour, you can transform a tense situation unto a positive environment, and create an atmosphere of understanding.

You must to have the ability to laugh at yourself. That’s so important. Some people are too hard on themselves”- Myles Munroe
Have you ever slipped and fallen in front of people? What do you do? Get up and laugh with them say “Ah, did you see what i just did? isn’t that funny, I just fell down.” Laugh, because if that were somebody else, you would laugh.
It is difficult to get a smile and not get one in return.

          #5. Decisiveness

Be a decision maker! Let your stand on any issue be clear. Let you yes be yes and your no be no. Everyone’s life is dependent on the two words, yes or no.

          Must Watch: Husband for sale
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”- James 1:8
