As students, during an examination, we may often forget what we read earlier.
Some students give excuses; "the books are too voluminous and how do they expect us to remember all we've read."
We forget what we read if we fail to move the newly uploaded data in our brain from the short-term memory to the long-term memory.

1 Use Acronyms:
What are acronyms?
Acronyms are words formed from the initial letters of other words (e.g United State of America; USA, United Nations; UN).
This is a powerful tool for you if used effectively.
I remember way back in secondary school, we were made to memorize the characteristics of living things using;
- Movement
- Respiration
- Nutrition
- Irritability
- Growth
- Excretion
- Reproduction
- Development
M.R.N.I.G.E.R.D
I can never forget this basic knowledge except if i get brain washed.
Acronyms might not help for extremely long words but will help do the trick for listed words, characteristics e.t.c
2 Create Images
Have you ever wondered why you can remember every single detail in a "Harry potter" movie compared to when you read the Book?
As we all know;
"a picture is worth more a thousand words."
It has been proved that creating visual imagery is useful in remembering objects and written pieces. Try creating a link(mental) between the image(s) with your reading subjects.
3 Focus Your Mind On The Text
Try concentrating on the text that you wish to remember. Spend time pondering upon it. This helps to move the data the short-term memory to the long-term memory. If not, there a little chance that you can remember it later.
4 Sing the text out loud and record on phone or tape then play it over and over again.
This could look silly but i know people who listen to a song once and half the lyrics is already stuck in their heads.
I used this method once for an essay examination and i got a distinction.
Continuous repetition will help move the information from the short-term to the long-term memory.
This could be time consuming but it's definitely worth a try.
6 Have A Discussion on The Text With a friend
Two days after a lecture, we've forgotten some things that was taught in class already but you can always recall the conversation you had with your friend 3 to 4 weeks ago.
To aid easy remembrance, have your friend read the same subject with you then have a discussion about the subject.
7 Write A Pre-Examination Test
This requires a lot of sincerity. Make sure you time yourself and abide strictly with the time. Avoid peeking into your notes. This will show you how fast you can think in other remember what you've read. This requires a lot of Discipline.
All the tips stated above had been tested by me and they all worked remarkably.
As a student, learn to device means that would make reading more fun. This will help a lot.
