We can talk of Road accidents, Home accidents, School accident, etc. It’s either a driver is driving above speed limits, or (s)he ignored traffic signs. There are so many instances that could be cited.
Apart from emergency cases, I was wondering why people break rules and I came up with Four answers.
1. Illiteracy
2. Impatience
3. Frustration
4. Ignorance

Experts have warned that the exhaust pipes of generators should not be facing any room window. I can remember the story of a family that got choked by Carbon monoxide over the night because they left their old generator switched on and the exhaust pipe was facing the window. Father, mother and young children died just like that.
We are always too quick to blame the devil mean while we are the real devils.
Another instance would be the case of a house burnt down by fire and everyone in it was roasted. The major catalyst of that fire was the gallon of petrol kept in the house.
Most times instructions are meant to protect us not bound us.
The Fall of Man
Going back in time to the beginning, Man had access to everything he needed to survive without laboring. Man was in a perfect state.There were some rules God gave man. One of which was “…Do not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil…”
The day man broke the rules; man died and lost his total control over the earth.
Let’s Learn From Saul.
Saul started well as Israel’s first king. We can talk about his humility; how he could not believe God had actually chosen him. When it was time to meet the people, he was so shy he hid behind some baggage.Saul always forgives those who rebelled against him. He knew having peace was more important than taking revenge.
Knowing these good things about Saul’s early years makes his sad ending hard to understand.
It all started when the Philistines came up against Israel again, this time at Michmash near Gilgal. Israel’s army was weak and had poor weapons.
All of the blacksmiths had been captured earlier, only Saul and his son Jonathan had iron swords and shields.
The Philistines had 30,000 iron chariots, along with 6,000 horsemen and too many foot soldiers to be counted. can you imagine how they made the Israelites feel? Most were terrified and hid out in pits and caves around the countryside.
Some finally came trembling to join Saul at Gilgal for the battle, but there was a problem there, too.
Samuel promised to meet Saul and offer a sacrifice before the attack. Yet they waited seven days and Samuel did not come.
Saul was worried. What should he do now? He didn’t want to fight without asking God’s help, but It wasn’t right for him to offer a sacrifice himself.
Only men from the tribe of Levi were supposed to do that, and he was from the tribe of Benjamin.
When his men began to get restless and leave, Saul decided to go on and offer the sacrifice anyway. “Bring a burnt offering and peace offerings here to me,” he offered. Then, soon as he had finished with the burnt offering, Samuel came.
The old prophet was horrified and asked, “What have you done?” Saul tried to explain what had happened, but Samuel would not listen. “You have done foolishly!” he exclaimed. “You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God which he commanded you.”
God told Samuel to tell Saul he would take the kingdom away from him.
The he would raise up for himself a man after his own heart, one who would obey him. For the main time, God allowed Saul to go on being king over Israel.
One would think Saul should have learned from his mistake, but he didn’t. Sometime later he disobeyed God again.
This time he was fighting against the Amalekites, the fierce desert nation which had attacked Moses at Rephidim, to stop the Israelites from going into Canaan.
Because they had fought his people then, God wanted Saul to destroy the Amalekites now and everything they had. This time Israel had a large army and they defeated the Amalekites easily.
However, Saul disobeyed God’s instructions to completely destroy them. Instead, he spared their king Agag, along with the best sheep and oxen.
How foolish Saul was to refuse God’s command! God told Samuel what Saul had done, saying he was sorry he had ever made him king.
Samuel was upset and cried to God all night because of Saul’s disobedience.
Still upset, Samuel went out to see Saul the next day.
Samuel was surprised when Saul behaved as if all was fine! “Blessed are you of the Lord!” Saul greeted Samuel. “I have performed the commandment of the Lord!” Of course Saul was lying.
“What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?” Samuel asked.
Saul quickly began to make excuses, blaming the people for bringing back King Agag and saving the best animals to sacrifice.
Samuel told Saul obeying the Lord was more important than any sacrifice.
On that very day God had taken the kingdom from him and given it to another man who was better than Saul. And Samuel would not pray for Saul any more.
That marked the beginning of Saul’s misery till he died,
Conclusion
As Christians, The only thing God requires is obedience. It pays to listen to God’s instruction.
