Manifesting Like Jesus: What you should know

I was in my room reflecting on the scripture when it reoccurred to me how important it is to focus on Jesus.

The ultimate aim of every genuine believer is to become the image God wants. God has a standard as regards that; Jesus the Christ, the word of God personified.

“Truly, truly, I say unto you, whoever believes in me will also do works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the father” - John 14: 12

Following this scriptures, the minimum standard for any Christian to operate with is Jesus.

“…greater works than these will he do,” Apparently, some Christians are far from this. (My prayer is that we all should function in full capacity of the Holy Spirit)

Jesus indeed did a lot of good while on earth. He is a teacher, healer, preacher, and ultimately, He is my saviour (don’t know about you :) ).

To be like Jesus, you need to study how he operated on earth. There are few points to consider that will help us manifest like Jesus.

- Knowing/understanding purpose
- Preparation
- Approval/endorsements
- Manifesting

Knowing/Understanding (your) Purpose

This should be the basis of all others. Jesus knew clearly what he was to do and he understood how he was to do it.

As a Christian, if you have no idea of what your purpose is and how to go about it, it will be difficult to manifest like Jesus did.
Understanding-your-purpose-as-a-ChristianEveryone has a distinct purpose. Jesus purpose on earth was to reconcile man back to
God.
I would say that our purpose as Christians are in two phases;
  • Maxi purpose- To glorify God (living a holy life, doing good works, winning souls, etc.)
  •  Mini purpose- These are specific assignments that we have to do to accomplish the maxi purpose.
KEY NOTE: I’m God’s labourer unto good works, the works he had prepared before I was created
We must bear this in mind. This makes our understanding of purpose strong.

PREPARATION

When there is understanding about purpose, it’ll be easier to plan. It’s not possible to prepare for what you have no idea about.
According to the Scripture, Jesus spent 33 years on earth. He used the last 3 years doing the work, fulfilling purpose. The first 30 years was used for preparation.

daily preparation in the place of prayer and reading the bibleIn a man’s life, I believe preparation for a divine task comes in phase. Most times we have to go through series of trials. We fall victim of circumstances that unknowing to us were preparing us for the future.

Daily preparation in the place of prayer and studying the Bible should never be neglected.
After Jesus was baptized, he was led up into the wilderness to be tempted. He defeated the devil by quoting scripture. That was his test after fasting for forty days and Nights.

We must know that apart from praying and studying the bible, there will be series of events that will unfold to make us into the perfect vessel for specific assignments (mini purpose).

APPROVAL/ENDORSEMENT

Taking a cue from the story Of Jesus we would see that His ministry started after the spirit of God came upon him. He was given the capacity (anointing) to do the father’s will.
It didn’t stop there. God went ahead to declare him (Jesus) as his son publicly.
“And behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased.”” – Matthew 3:17

If you are not sure you have the Holy Spirit in you, don’t make any effort to do spiritual works; your strength will fail you.
This is my son
Why?
I have a friend who gave his life to Christ and after months of struggling, he came to me and said “I don’t understand the Bible; I don’t have the Holy Spirit”.

I asked why he said so and he replied “I don’t feel any sensation or have goose bumps when I pray and read the bible”.

This is no joke. I felt sorry for him because he had the ideology that when the Holy Spirit comes on people, they feel sensations and have goose bumps.

So when he didn’t get any sensation, he concluded “I don’t have the Holy spirit”

We receive the Holy Spirit by faith. Everything a Christian does must be by faith.
The Holy Spirit is there to approve us that we are Sons of God. He bears witness to
God that we are true believers.

“…But to all who did receive him, who believes in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12

MANIFESTING LIKE JESUS

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with Power. He went about dong good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him”- Acts 10:38
Without the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to do God’s work profitably. After Jesus was anointed, everywhere he went, he left a mark of good will. He was performing miracles, putting smiles on people’s faces, raising the dead, healing the sick, delivering the oppressed.
KEY NOTE- We can’t be an effective Christian without the Holy Spirit.

When Manifesting, we must do some things to make sure we don’t fall.I'll discuss three.

1.Avoid Distractions

Distractions comes in different forms. I'll talk about two below

  • Persecution

This is a must. Some people will reject you, ridicule you but you must hold your grounds.
Surely, all that desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted – 2 Timothy 3:12 (ESV)
      •   Praises Of Men

Be careful when people are praising you, it might just be a plot for your fall.
“Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him King, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.” – John 6:15
Jesus also had a fair share of such experience. He knew it wasn’t time yet, so he withdrew

      2. Always Refill

If you don’t keep coming back to God for refill, you will soon burn out.

“After he had dismissed the crowds, he went up in the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone”- Matthew 14:23

Jesus at some point would leave the disciples and the crowd he was teaching to go and pray alone.
We must understand that if we are too busy to rest and recharge ourselves, we should be prepared to crash.

      3.Give All Glory To God.

“…not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the LORD of hosts.”
Now this is very important. The consequence of taking God’s glory to ourselves is more disastrous than a mountain falling on us.
The scripture says “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven.”
If our actions are sending signals that we are self-made, we are taking God’s glory. Everything we do, should always point back to God.

      Final Words
“Keep your conduct among the gentiles Honourable so that when they speak against you as evil doers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.”- 1 peter 2:12
Every work continues till the last day. So, we ought to keep the faith until we live this earth.

      Hi Ologundudu,

Well written indeed, and I think you said it all so well in His praise, which I'm sure He notices and that's the reason you are so blessed! I cannot say whether any of us can become like Jesus, but we can all try to follow his path and his learning, isn't it? I think you mentioned most of them in your post here. :)

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead :)

      Hi harleena.

You always amaze me with your comments. Yes we can, but it will take more than just words. It will need our sacrifice and commitment.

      Thanks for the comment.
